  • Words that are often misspelled: For example… Affect vs. Effect. Affect, Accept vs, Except, Desert vs. Dessert.
  • Words that are spelled the same but have different meanings: "lead" (to guide, pronounced /liːd/) and "lead" (the metal, pronounced /lɛd/)
  • Many words in English have several meanings depending on the context in which they are used. Examples: "can" (to be able to, or a container), "rock" (a stone or a type of music).
